These are my earliest Maynors found to date.
The only official records we have found naming William Maynor (Maner/Mainard)
are the death certificates of his children. The 1917 death certificate of his son Joseph (Josiah) states that William
was born in Sampson County, NC.

Chatham County NC Federal Census The Mainard's lived on her brother's 50 acre farm in what
would be known as the Bear Creek Township. William Phillips (40), Catherine Phillips (35), Chloe
Mainard (42) Josiah Mainard (6), William Mainard (4), Theany Mainard (3).
1860 Chatham County NC Federal Census William Phillips (56, Farmer; RE 100; personal
75) Catherine Phillips (45, spinster, could not read/write) Clora Manor (52,
spinster, personal 20) Josiah Manor (16, farmer), Wm. Manor (14), Bethena Manor (13)
1870
Chatham County NC Federal Census (Bear Creek Township Grove P.O.) Cloe Manah (age 60) living with
Thena (age 22) on a farm. Cloe's occupation was "keeping house." The property was valued at 150 pers.
@140. The census index for 1870 lists Chloe's name as Cleas Manar.
The Chatham Record, Thursday, March 13, 1879 (Pittsboro,
NC) Sudden Death On the 4th inst., an old
woman named Mrs. Chloe Maner, living in Bear Creek township, while sitting near the door knitting, fell suddenly from her
chair, and was dead before anyone could reach her. She was the widow of a soldier in the Mexican war, and for several
years past has been kindly taken care of by Bryan Burroughs, Esq.
